Details form the difference was a solo exhibition which took place at Lily Brooke, London. The work stemmed from a body of research made over the course of a research residency with Ikon Gallery, Birmingham. I took particular interest in a former industrial area in Birmingham, now largely cleared to create brownfield sites for development, these areas bare small but significant marks and gestures towards its manufacturing past. The destruction of these buildings reveal their foundations and floors, tracing the movements of industry over the past century.

The exhibition featured three wall based and one floor based work. The wall based panels are formed by randomly generated grid like patterns of cement whilst the floor was made up of over 200 hand-formed cement casts of a roofing slate. These tiles cracked and splintered underfoot, tracing the journey of the viewers and breaking down to rubble over the course of the exhibition.
